Blog 5: Apps That Every Teacher Should Have

Have you ever experienced a blackout just before you had some assignments to do? Do you need to prepare some materials for your students but you don't have access to your computer? Is your computer too old to handle those things? Do not worry my colleague, I am at your rescue, it is not possible to carry a computer all times, we all know it well. Frankly, there are some ways to create teaching material through our mobile phones.

Another point I want to talk about is using mobile apps during the lessons. Especially it has been found that Kahoot provides students with increased attention span, increased engagement, fun, enjoyment (Licorsish et al., 2018). Also it has been noted that it creates a positive learning environment for students by providing them with quality time, they increase students' willingness to participate in the lesson by gamifying the context (Bicen & Kocakoyun, 2018) .

I have some recommendations to share with you if you are interested in learning that kind of apps.

Canva

You probably know this tool, but did you know that it has a mobile application that is fully functional as its website? I definitely recommend you to download it, you can find it on both AppStore and GooglePlayStore.

Goodnotes

It is a powerful note taking, and textbook app. You can note down your lessons, make a quick sketch, create lesson plans. Though in order to use this app to the fullest you need an iPad with an Apple Pencil.

Microsoft Lens

It is an app designed for scanning documents. It is a perfect application that you can use to quickly convert your documents to PNG, PDF and other variants. If you have printed materials and you need them on your computer, this is a must.
